** Last updated 5/27/97 **

***** NOTE *****
Because of a problem with the backslashes not printing,
all places that require a backslash have been changed to
a vertical bar "". Make sure when you are actually
entering the path names that you use a backslash.

PC5250 Console with 27x132 Display Screens
__________________________________________

The Twinax (OS/2 only) console features of PC5250 do not support
27x132 wide screens. The program will let you select the option
for the display, but the value will not be used. The option will
be removed from the screen in the future.

PC5250 Autostart
________________

When trying to autostart a PC5250 session, MSGPCSERR200
is displayed saying that PCSTDLC5.DLL is missing. This
happens when specifying a profile name of
PCOMOS2PCSWS profile.ws.

The profile was not in the current directory. Insert the
path to the session profile name (c:desktopas400xxxx.ws).
The error will disappear.

SNA Phone Connect
_________________

When starting Client Access/400 and using SNA phone connect you
may get the following error message:

 FPI0014: Communications Manager: SNAPHONE

 PCM0021: Port Connection Manager (PCM)
<modem type> could not initialize the modem
using COMx. The modem is using
 phone number (). Communications might
 still be possible.

(Note: <modem type> will be replaced with type of modem you
selected during installation and COMx will be replaced by COM
port the modem is configured to use.)

This error message usually indicates one of the following:

1. An incorrect modem type was specified during installation.
This can be changed by opening the Client Access/400
Connections icon which is located in the AS/400
Workstation Folder. Select the SNA Configuration button,
then select the Phone Connect Tab.

2. The PC cannot communicate with the modem.

3. The modem initialization string is incorrect. In most
cases, the modem will work and communications to the
AS/400 is still possible. If you wish to change the modem
initialization strings, make a backup of the PROTOCOL.INI
file which is located in the IBMCOM subdirectory. Edit the
PROTOCOL.INI file and find the three initialization strings.
Using the documentation from the modem manufacturer, find
and update the incorrect modem command in these strings.
Save your changes. To test the new strings, stop the
Communications Manager using the CMSTOP command from an
OS/2 command prompt. Then restart communications using
the Start Client Access/400 icon or using the STARTCM
command from an OS/2 command prompt. When you are
satisfied with the initialization strings, you should
update the .PIF file for your modem. The .PIF files are
located in the CMLIB subdirectory. To find the PIF file
   used for a particular modem:

    a. Edit NETWORK.INI in CMLIB and search for your modem
       (e.g., AT&T DataPort)
    b. The section you find in NETWORK.INI will name the .PIF
       associated with it (e.g., ATTDP.PIF)

Make a backup copy of the .PIF file and then update the .PIF
file with the same changes you made to the PROTOCOL.INI file.

CHANGING PASSWORD
_________________

When changing your password the 9th. position of the
new password cannot be a numeric value; if this is the case
you will get the error number CWBSY0263. This error will
not be fixed.
